Non-Slip Mono Loop Knot
A fixed loop knot that lets streamers, jigs, and small plugs move instead of hanging stiffly from the line.
Some lures need room to wander a little. The non-slip mono loop gives them that room without turning your connection into a mystery knot. It is excellent for streamers and finesse presentations where a rigid knot makes good bait look like it has given up on life.
How to tie it
-
1
Tie a loose overhand knot in the leader about 5 inches from the tag end.
-
2
Pass the tag end through the hook eye.
-
3
Run the tag back through the overhand knot in the same direction it first entered.
-
4
Wrap the tag around the standing line 4 to 5 times.
-
5
Pass the tag back through the overhand knot from the opposite side.
-
6
Wet, set the loop size, and tighten by pulling the standing line and tag.
When to use it
- Streamers, small jigs, and plugs that need extra swing or wobble.
- Low, clear water where natural movement matters.
- Fly leaders with mono or fluorocarbon tippet.
- Do not use it when weeds or wood keep fouling the open loop.
Common screw-ups
- Making the loop too large, which catches weeds and reduces control.
- Passing back through the overhand knot from the wrong direction.
- Over-tightening before the loop size is set.
