Canadaway Creek at Fredonia drains 30 square miles of Chautauqua County into Lake Erie and is one of the smaller productive NY steelhead waters. The creek runs through Forestville and the Laona village reaches with public access at multiple road crossings. Tight quarters and short drifts reward shorter rods and accurate centerpin work; the spring runs hold well into May.
October through April with fall and spring peaks. Tight wading water -- short rods help. Clears faster than larger NY tribs.
